PR Hampshire: How To Make a Killing Presentation

As part of PR Hampshire you will probably have to do lots of presentations. For some people is easy and for some people is not that easy and perhaps it is even difficult. In this article we want to give you some tips regarding the kind of material that you should present to your audience.

It is a bad idea to give handouts to people before the presentation. People will get distracted trying to follow your presentation slide by slide reading what you have written. The purpose of a presentation is that you capture the attention of the audience and they listen to you. If you have extra material to give it is a good idea to do it at the end of the session.

The slides are not a place to place all the text that you are supposed to say in your presentation. There is no point in reading everything out of the slide if people can read them themselves. You should only include key ideas. If you still want to make it more dynamic you can only include keywords that will help you to remember what you have to say. It is actually a good idea to include lots of pictures to attract the attention of the audience. Of course these pictures need to be related to the topic you are trying to present.

Don’t worry about the amount of slides that you have. In fact it is not recommended to do only a few slides because this means that you are going to try to put all the information there and it won’t look good. The idea is not to have lots of slides full of pictures either. Write some keywords accompanied with text. Make sure they are in a relevant order so you can proceed with your presentation by going one after one.

It is advisable to try to transform your presentation into a story that has a beginning a main body and at end. Sometimes people lose the audience because they don’t know how to organize all the information they need to present and everyone gets really confused. If you can make it personal by adding your personal experiences and telling stories inside the whole story then you will for sure capture the audiences’ attention.

It is recommended that you have a wireless mouse so you don’t need to go back to your seat every time you want to pass one slide. This will take you time and doesn’t help to keep the rhythm of the presentation. We hope in PR Hampshire that you find these tips useful. Remember that there are lots of tutorials online.
